Our School

Wootton Primary School has been at the heart of the local community since 1872 when the village first received a grant to help educate the local children.

We are very pleased to be able to welcome you to our school website. We hope you get a real sense of the pride and enjoyment that staff and children have when they are a part of our very special school.

The school has very good relationships with the local community and actively welcomes many visitors to school to enhance the education of our children. Our children also get involved in a great many activities within the village, which supports their connection with their local area.

Since the school’s beginnings, it has expanded greatly and now has room for 420 children. But we still treat every child as an individual and ensure that they are given every opportunity to succeed.

Relationships with parents are highly valued, as part of this, as we believe that children thrive best when school and home works in partnership.

We believe that primary school should be about developing children to become great citizens of the future. So our staff work incredibly hard to support all children achieve the best they can academically, and rightly so.

We also believe it is important that children develop a wide range of skills beyond the academic. At Wootton, our children are given a vast array of wider opportunities, including sport, dance, music and drama. To support us in this, we have a large hall, a dance studio, a library and other areas to enhance learning opportunities.

We are fortunate enough to be set in spacious grounds. The staff believe that the outside environment is as important as the classrooms themselves to help children learn, and constantly strive to ensure that the physical environment is as safe and stimulating as possible.

Our OFSTED inspection (October 2014) assessed our school as a good school and the short inspection by Ofsted in November 2018, confirms that we ‘continue to be good’. For more information on our recent inspection, please see our ‘legal information’ page.

The school converted to an academy in October 2012.

All who work at Wootton Primary School aim to achieve a happy, friendly and caring environment where all children are valued equally and their achievements are celebrated.

Simply put, we all want to be the best we can be!
