Physical Education Intent Statement
Through Physical Education, Wootton Primary School aims to inspire our children to search for success, foster confidence and personal growth, take part in competitive sport and sustain healthy, active lifestyles.
Our curriculum teaches our children explicit sporting knowledge and skills, allowing them to participate in a range of sports including: netball, hockey, football, tag rugby, tennis, gymnastics, dance, athletics, cricket, rounders, swimming, yoga and self defence/martial arts in PE lessons and school level competitions.
We also believe that PE is vital for embedding and teaching implicit sporting/ life skills and knowledge, such as courage, cooperation, communication.
Our spiral curriculum format sees the children revisiting sports and PE topics allowing progression: this enables all of our children to achieve and experience success, regardless of their ability.
